BLACK SEA REGION. Istrus. Ca. 350-275 BC. Æ 17mm (2.94 gm, 1h). Laureate head of Apollo right / ΙΣΤΡIH, sea-eagle atop dolphin left. AMNG I, p. 166, 460. SNG BM 259. Rare! Perfect strike and hard green patina. NGC MS★ 5/5 - 5/5. Although it was one of the most active mints of antiquity, Istrus produced relatively few bronze coins before the Roman era and surviving examples are usually poorly preserved. This little green "gem" is a worthy exception.
