Cista mystica with serpent; all within ivy wreath / Bow case with serpents; ΔION above, [lyre to right]. SNG von Aulock 3259. SNG Copenhagen 657. A simply incredible specimen, struck with heavy force in perfect metal, transferring needle-like detail, and displaying mirror-like luster in fields. NGC Choice MS 5/5 - 5/5. Simply the finest example we have yet encountered of the ubiquitous cistophoric tetradrachm of western Asia Minor, displaying prooflike luster and giving every evidence of a freshly minted coin.
