Henri Christophe copper Pattern 1/2 Crown 1812 SP45 PCGS, London (?) mint, KM-unl. (KMPn13 refers to a reeded edge piece, while KMPn15 refers to a plain edge piece but struck in silver). A plain edge pattern in copper of the 1812 Half Crown depicting king Henri Christophe and an original strike identified as such by the faint incipient die crack near "CAUSA" on the reverse. Obviously circulated yet attractive with contained, even wear and no distracting handling marks. KM's listing of the related silver and copper patterns is a bit confusing: original reeded edge coins are mentioned as Pn13 and Pn14 (obviously a reference to two such coins in the Norweb sale, Christie's Dallas 5/1985, lots 613, 614), yet the plate coin is the restrike plain-edged copper piece (lot 615 in the same Norweb sale) identified by the aforementioned die crack being in much more advanced state. A wholesome example of the rare original strike, very rare and eminently collectible in this unflawed preservation. From the Coin Cabinet of Isaac Rudman
