Wilhelmina I gold Matte Proof 10 Gulden 1912 PR64 NGC, KM149, Fr-349, unlisted in either reference in Matte Proof and the Dutch mint has no record of Matte Proof strikings, although such pieces are known in several denominations. A great rarity in this proof format, with thick granular texture over the surfaces and olive-gold color as is seemingly commonplace on matte issues in gold. Two tiny flyspeck marks behind the obverse portrait are noted, but otherwise the surfaces are entirely absent of flaws. A prime example for the Netherlands' specialist given the almost non-existent record of this coin appearing at auction. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $250 in BU.
