Dutch Colony - United Amsterdam Company 1/2 Real ND (1601) VG10 NGC, Dordrecht mint (Holland), Sch-5 (R2), Salv-15. A wholesome example with deep gray fields and lighter devices that create pleasing contrast. Evenly struck and nicely placed on the flan. Despite considerable time spent in circulation, a very attractive coin. As of the 1988 cataloging of the Salvesen Collection, only 21 examples of this date were know, many certainly residing inside institutional collections. Since that time, few have sold and we see no archived records in the past nearly 15 years. A great opportunity thus.
