Republic silver "Delagoa Bay Railway" Specimen Medal 1895 SP64+ PCGS, Pretoria mint. Type 2 reverse - date between 'S' and 'N'. 32mm. By Otto Schultz. A stunning commemorative medal, struck using a leftover obverse proof die from a 2-1/2 shillings, with a reverse that commemorates the opening of the Delagoa Bay railway by Paul Kruger in July of 1895. Obviously kept as a prized cabinet piece for years, with fine tone that interchanges between lime-green, blue and russet-gold color. A single graze that obviously entered the coin ages ago prevents an even finer grade. Very rare.Ex. Clain-Stefanelli Collection.
