Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1778 M-PJ AU55 NGC, Madrid mint, KM409.1, Fr-282. A bright contact spot behind Charles' head is noted for accuracy's sake, but otherwise the surfaces are uniformly presented for the grade with blended orange-reddish tone on both sides and remnants of original luster around the protected surfaces. A much scarcer coin than many of its colonial counterparts.
