Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1811 C-CI AU55 PCGS, Cadiz mint, KM470, Cal-1. Struck while Ferdinand was in the custody of Napoleon at the Chateau de Valencay in France. Exceptional for this rare one-year issue with bright luster, light reddish toning accents at the legends and no individually bothersome marks. Featuring a much better strike, and overall more pleasing surfaces, than an example of the same grade that we sold in our January 2014 NYINC auction for $5,581.25.
Estimate: 6000-7000 USD
