Zanzibar
British Protectorate - Sultan Ali Bin Hamud 10 Cents 1908 MS63 Brown PCGS, Birmingham (Heaton) mint, KM9. Sweeny-ZZ3. Well struck, with iridescent, reddish-brown color and touches of original golden mint luster. The few small marks are barely noticeable and do not detract from the pleasing overall appearance. According to James Sweeny's book, "A numismatic History of the Birmingham Mint," none of the 1908 Zanzibar series (1, 10, and 20 Cents) were released into circulation, and according to Jerome Remick there are no more than 20 to 60 pieces of each extant. A rare, and desirable, issue.
Estimate: 2000-2500 USD
