Central American Republic gold 1/2 Escudo 1847-JB CR MS62 NGC, San Jose mint, KM13.2. Variety with the inverted "C" in the mintmark. A premium coin for the designation with nearly full mint luster, rather sharply struck details save for the right upper part of the ceiba tree and fewer than the usually encountered handling marks at this level. A scarcer variety for the date, quite elusive without the lion counterstamp of 1849. Currently the single graded example by NGC and certainly a condition-rarity in this handsome quality, thus a coin that should attract serious attention from the specialist. Ex.
