Great Britain
George III gold Proof 1/2 Guinea 1813 PR64 NGC, Royal mint, KM651, S-3737, WR-135. A somewhat weak central strike, but a technically Choice Mint State specimen that lacks any noticeable handling marks. Some die polishing lines are noted throughout, but basically no hairlines. Deep coppery tones and a particularly pleasing reverse. A total of three proof 1813 1/2 guineas have been graded by NGC, with this being tied for the finest of them. We actually sold the other PR64 in August, 2014 for an impressive $12,000 hammer, and so we may see that mark matched or even surpassed today, as the market for high grade British proof gold has only gotten stronger in that time. From the RichLyn Collection
