Victoria Proof Crown 1839 PR65 NGC, Royal mint, KM741, S-3882, ESC-279. Of the 61 examples of proof 1839 crowns graded by both NGC and PCGS, a mere 6 have been graded at the PR65 level. The last example that we have handled was in January, 2015, where a modest PR62 still managed to hammer for $20,000. A coin such as this is a truly special opportunity for the grade-conscious collector of world crowns. This is a simply stunning specimen, with bountiful iridescent toning, especially on the reverse. Essentially flawless, and with deep old cabinet toning, this is a piece that certainly has very few equals.
