Victoria gold 1/2 Sovereign 1862 MS65 PCGS, Royal mint, KM735.1, S-3859A. Very likely the finest-known specimen; of a total of 6 specimens seen by both PCGS and NGC, the next closest graded example of this date is a PCGS AU58. According to the Terner catalog (Goldberg 20, 26 May 2003, lot 343), this particular coin was discovered in Sheffield England by London-based dealer Stephen Fenton. It was then sold to the Sharps Pixley bank collection for reportedly GBP7,000. Terner acquired from the auction of that collection in 1989. In other words, this particular coin has only been offered for sale a handful of times. With likely no equal in existence, it is hard to conceive of an upper possible limit that this coin can reach; the market will determine its true value.Ex. Jacob Y. Terner Collection. Estimate: 10000-12000 USD
