British India - East India Company. William IV silver Proof Pattern Rupee ND (1835) PR62 PCGS, Calcutta mint. KM-Pn9, Pr-176, S&W-1.31. Obv. Bare head right. Rev. British lion advancing left; palm tree in background. A most attractive, deep iridescent tone and impeccable proof surfaces. An extremely rare pattern, the only recent comparable example being the specimen in the Fore Collection, which merely graded as NGC AU55. A highlight within any collection of the series, for both exceptional rarity and exquisite appearance. Listed on the holder as (1834), though much more likely produced in 1835.
