British India. Victoria gold Proof Restrike 5 Rupees 1879-(b) PR63 NGC, Bombay mint, KM494, Prid-45, S&W-6.23. The only example graded by NGC, with the only one graded by PCGS being a PR64. That coin actually just sold recently and so provides a good data point for estimating the one on offer here; it appeared in DNW 132 (September 2015, lot 2246) where it hammered at 4,000 GBP, or $6,153 at the time. The coin on offer here is highly lustrous fields and lightly frosted devices. A few light hairlines in the fields, but they are hardly visible unless one uses magnification. All in all a quality piece.
