Lightly toned, with some original luster still remaining. A fairly sharp strike which immediately captures the viewer's eyes.An iconic piece of medieval coinage, the pierreale of Pietro and Constanza represents one of the high points of numismatics in an era in which design and execution left much to be desired. Though simple, the two focal points of the pierreale feature excellent detail, be it the minute cross-hatching of the bands within the escutcheon or the feathers on the wings and body of the eagle. The concentric circular legends aid in drawing one's attention to these designs, and the legends themselves are always rendered with expert precision. An important coin in an impressive grade and state of preservation.
