Netherlands East Indies
Dutch Colony - United East India Company Ducaton 1728 MS62 NGC, Hoorn mint (West Friesland), KM130.1, Dav-419, Sch-40a (S). Turnip mm. The first year for this elusive issue, and more available as a date than most, but extremely rare in the observed condition and as such, an ideal type representative of this extremely coveted, historic world trade coin. A choice coin for the assigned grade, the surfaces maintain full originality, with beautiful golden-brown accents, all-the-while maintaining full luster in the fields. The strike is very nearly complete with stunning detail on display on the rider, and full peripheral legends and dentilation at the edges. Very few marks are seen, especially on the near-Gem reverse; taking the obverse and reverse together, a coin that would not look out of place in a numerically higher holder. As it is, the finest example of the date graded and among the very finest we have seen of the entire design type. A very important buying opportunity thus.

Estimate: 6000-8000 USD
