AUSTRIAN NETHERLANDS. Kronentaler, 1794. Brussels Mint. Francis II (1792-1806). NGC AU-58.
Dav-1286; KM-62.3. Not to be confused with the much more common issue with a similar design (Davenport-1180) which was struck for many years, the type offered here was struck for only one year in 1794, has a slightly different portrait and a different reverse legend. The coin represents the last coinage of the Austrian Netherlands, as it was annexed the following year by France, making this an especially desirable type. Well struck with a clear portrait and displaying plenty of luster. A single swipe with an adjustment file can be seen up close on the reverse. An appealing and highly desirable coin. NGC AU-58.
