BELGIUM. During Absence Silvered Bronze Plaque, 1914. EXTREMELY FINE.
78.31 X 110.57 mm; 251.82 gms. By G. Devreese. Interior scene of woman sewing with downcast expression on her face, "EPREUVE D'AUTEUR" in lower right corner; Reverse: blank. "FONSON & Cle" stamped on lower edge. An excellent testament to the engravers skill as even without knowing the title of the piece the woman's physicality and expression convey her longing for something or someone which is clearly absent. Some scattered light contact and handling marks, most evident on reverse. A medium gray toning compliment the overall feel of the piece. EXTREMELY FINE.
Estimate: $70.00- $100.00
