GREECE. Death of General Botsaris Silver Medal, 1823. EXTREMELY FINE.
24.7 mm; 6.4 gms. Erbstein 18158; Dogan 6473. Obverse with elaborate battle scene, the Turkish camp, at left, being attacked by the Greek forces. The details of the battle are unclear due to multiple strikes, but the ferocity of the melee is apparent. The date appears struck three times in the exergue. The reverse shows Minerva, mourning, placing laurel wreath on a funeral urn placed on a pedestal. The script signature of the sculptor, Hartman(n) is barely discernible and a portion of the obverse rim is slightly cupped up, again due to the unusual striking. The edge bears the normal diagonal reading. Dark toned. EXTREMELY FINE.
Estimate: $200.00- $300.00
