INDIA. King George's Medical College Silver Medal, ND (ca. 1912-28). Possibly Calcutta Mint. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
50.97 mm; 63.09 gms. Puddester-912.1. View of college building showing two sides; Reverse: Four line inscription naming the college within decorative floral border. Edge is uninscribed where the recipient's name is usually placed. As noted in Puddester the first record of this medal being struck at the Calcutta mint was from 1918 indicating that examples produced prior to that time were likely struck elsewhere, however this piece lacking an edge inscription may allude to it being minted towards the end of the period it was presented. Nicely struck with sharp letters and floral border as well as very nice detail to the building. Lightly toned and showing only minor signs of handling. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
Estimate: $300.00- $400.00
