87.4 mm; 176.1 gms. Unsigned, but by the prolific medallist M. Soldani (1656-1740). Obverse with bust facing right and legend FLOR. BENEDICTVS AVERANIVS around. Reverse: Pallas with spear and shield outside the city of Florence. Legend PARIT SAPIENTA PACEM above and date MDCCVII in exergue. Eldest of the three Averani brothers, Benedict was a respected professor as well as a poet. Pleasing medium chocolate patina on the obverse, a bit darker on the reverse. No significant defects. EXTREMELY FINE.
