KM-16.3; Dav-4195. Crowned effigy of the Grand Duke on the obverse, prominent shield with balls of the House of Medici on the reverse. Cosimo II d'Medici was tutored as a child by Galileo, who dedicated his first major writing to the duke when he published his "Sidereus Nuncius", a scientific paper based upon observations made using one of the earliest refractory telescopes. Damage evident along the bottom obverse edge, with the balance of the coin remaining quite attractive for the assigned details grade. Sharp clear effigy and great overall bright lustrous surfaces.
