RUSSIA. Ruble, 1881-CNB HO. NGC AU-58.
Sev-3914; Dav-289; Y-25. Struck the year a bomb was tossed under the carriage of Tsar Alexandar II. He was initially unharmed, but upon exiting the bulletproof carriage (a gift of Napoleon III) a second assassin came forward, screamed "It is too early to thank God", and tossed another bomb at his feet. With only one type Ruble struck in 1881, it can not be determined which Tsar was in power at the time it was struck. A choice lightly circulated example with medium even tone. Underlying luster still present across much of the surface. NGC AU-58.
Estimate: $350.00- $500.00
