SWEDEN. 4 Mark Klippe, 1570. Stockholm Mint. Johan III (1568-92). NGC EF-45.
Tingström-44; Levin-771; AAH-124; Mailliet-25. Seige Klippe struck for the assault on Stockholm beginning in 1568, as Johann III avenged his half-brother's (Erik XIV) decision to imprison him in 1563. In a very misguided decision, Erik XIV subsequently decided to set Johann III free in 1567, and before long Johann III was leading a rebellion to topple him. Clear legends and well struck. Astonishingly well preserved with no evidence of attempts to improve; exceptionally nice as such. NGC EF-45.
