52.4 mm; 61.2 gms. Forrer III P121-9. Silver Victories at Riga and Klissow Medal, dated 1702. Draped bust of King Charles XII (1697 - 1718) right, name and title around. Reverse: Two facing trophies of the enemies' weapons and flags; each holding shields with Saxon coats of arms. Above, radiant sun inscribed 9 / JULII. Legend LVX BINIS CLARA TRIVMPHIS above, and A 1701 AD DVNAM / ET A 1702 AD CLISSOVAM in exergue. By Arvid Karlsteen, whose monogram appears below the King's bust. Looped at 12:00. Issued to note the victories at Riga (Latvia) in 1701 and Klissow (Poland / Lithuania) in 1702. In these battles the numerically inferior Swedes were able to soundly defeat the advancing Polish forces of Augustus the Strong, leading to his replacement as regent by Stanislaus Leszczynski when he returned to Poland after the Battle of Klissow. Numerous contact marks on devices and in the fields, as well as a few edge bumps. VERY FINE.
