Julia Mamaea, mother of Severus Alexander (Augusta, AD 222-235). AR imitative denarius (3.53 gm). Barbarous issue, central Rhine-Danube region. Draped bust of Mamaea right, wearing stephane / Partially blundered legend, Fortuna standing left, holding tiller and cornucopia. Cf. RIC 355 (obverse) and (Severus Alexander) 268 (reverse). An intriguing hybrid; the reverse legend seems to be a complete concoction since no Severan ruler ever had the dates P M TB P(sic) VI COS II. NGC MS 5/5 - 3/5.

Estimate: 400-500 USD
