Republic Type I Countermark 1 Real ND (1841) Fine - Pierced, San Jose mint, KM-unl. Base coin, Fine and pierced at 12 o'clock, counterstamp good Fine. A Guatemala 1 Real 1821 NG-M countermarked with a radiant six pointed star and silver plug removed, the usual test mark seen between "ET" and "IND" on the reverse. A very rare denomination for this countermarked issue. The cataloguer notes a coin listed in Murillo as "Mexico 1828 1 Real", perhaps this specimen. Very rare and vastly desirable despite the noted damage. From the Pura Vida Collection, Part I
