Republic Type I Countermark 8 Reales ND (1841) VG, San Jose mint, KM-24. Base coin, Good and essentially unflawed with all crucial details still clear, countermark Very Good or thereabouts. A Peru 8 Reales 1840 LM-MB countermarked on the reverse with a radiant six pointed star and silver plug removed from the obverse, the usual test mark seen between "FIRME" and "Y" on the reverse. Rare as a type, and an apparently unrecorded combination, since the date of the base coin is unlisted in Murillo. From the Pura Vida Collection, Part I
