William I the Conqueror (1066-87) Penny ca. 1083-86 AU50 NGC, Exeter mint, Lifwine as moneyer, S-1257, North-848. + PILLELM REX, crowned and diademed bust facing, holding scepter to right / + LIFPINE ON IEXEC, cross pattée; letters PAXS contained within annulets in each quarter. Beautifully toned on a broad flan with a double-struck obverse.
