Commemorative silver Plaque on the Occasion of the Centennial Celebration of Independence, July 5, 1911. a sterling silver plaque, 68.4x102mm, 91.44gm. Obv. The Venezuela coat-of-arms with colored enamel, CENTENARIO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA around in a semicircle. Below the shield, "5 DE JULIO DE 1911," initials JVC, for Juan Vicente Gomez, at lower left. Rev. Legend in seven lines, BANQUETE-OFRECIDO EN EL-PALACIO DE MIRAFLORES-OBSEQUIO DEL GRAL-JUAN VICENTE GOMEZ-PRESIDENTE CONSTUCIONAL DE-LA REBUBLICA VENEZUELA, ON THE LOWER EDGE IS THE TIFFANY & CO MARK. These plaques were given to the 79 guests invited to the banquet by General Gomez, with one also at his place at the table for a total of 80. Included is the well worn Tiffany & Co. case. Very rare and seldom offered.
