Maya Censer from Guatemala, ca. 400 800 AD. An excellent Maya censer (incense holder) from the Pacific slope region of Guatemala, ca. 400 800 AD. This fine ceremonial vessel is 9" long and has a handle sculpted in the form of a nicely detailed monkey holding the bowl. He is adorned with large ear spools and a ceremonial bib. Intact, with strong mineral deposits, signs of usage and just a minor repair. Value range: $1250 - $1750.
