An attractive Daunian Sub-Geometric II askos, Italic, late 6th Century BC, handmade, the body oval with flat base, the top somewhat rounded with a cylindrical neck without a distinct lip, a stubby tail opposite, separated by a single arching handle. The decoration is a medium brown slip and consists of horizontal banding around the body and neck and a few narrow vertical bands. H: 4 ¾ (12.1 cm); L: 5 (12.7 cm). Intact, horizontal age crack on body, two small nicks. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
