BRUTTIUM, Hipponion. Early 3rd century BC. Æ (23mm, 8.64 g, 7h). Head of Athena right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with hippocamp / Nike standing left, holding wreath and scepter. HN Italy 2258; SNG ANS 465-7 var. (decoration on helmet); Virzi 246 (this coin). VF, green patina, irregular flan. Rare, particularly with hippocamp ornament rather than serpent or griffin.
