Islands off Karia, Kos AR 3 Sigloi. Circa 480-475 BC. Diskobolos, nude, hurling diskos right; tripod to left, KOΣ to right / Crab in dotted border. Apparently unique variety with KOΣ and crab within dotted border. Cf. Barron, Diskoboloi, group B; BMC 6-9

Fragmentary, Very Fine.

The Diskobolos is a hallmark of the competitions of the Dorian cities, the winner got a Tripod.
