ATTICA, Athens. Circa 420s BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25mm, 16.96 g 9). Head of Athena to right, wearing disc earring, pearl necklace and a crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and a spiral palmette. Rev. AΘE Owl standing to right, head facing the viewer; to left, olive sprig and crescent moon; all within incuse square. Cf. Agora 8. Well centered. Curious incuse banker's mark on reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
From a Swiss collection, formed during the 1980s or earlier, privately purchased from Schweizerische Kreditanstalt.
This countermark must be Levantine or Egyptian in origin.
