LYDIA, Tripolis. Trajan, 98-117. Assarion (?) (Bronze, 23mm, 5.62 g 0). TPIΠOΛ Bust of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet, Aegis bound around neck. Rev. AV KAI TPAIANOC Trajan standing to left, holding long scepter in his left and erecting trophy with his right. BMC 55. SNG Copenhagen 745. SNG München 811. Good very fine.


Under Trajan, Tripolis issued an unusual series of bronze coins with autonomous obverse types and the emperor named and shown on the reverse.
