Maximianus, first reign, 286-305. Antoninianus (Bronze, 23mm, 3.34 g 1), Rome, 285-286. IMP MAXIMIANVS P F AVG Radiate head of Maximian to left, seen from behind, wearing aegis and holding spear. Rev. IOVI CONSERVAT AVGG / XXIA Jupiter, nude but for cloak, standing left, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter with his left. Cohen 355 var. (differing bust type). Rauch, 2009, 907 (this coin). RIC 506 var. (same). Extremely rare and apparently unpublished. A lovely example with a spectacular portrait and a fine brown patina. Minor flan crack, otherwise, extremely fine.
