In earlier literature coins of this type were all catalogued as 'Lete' (c.f. A.C. Smith, The Archaic Coinage of 'Lete' in Proceedings of the 12th International Numismatic Congress, Berlin 2000, group 7). This attribution was based on Svoronos's incorrect reading of a late, inscribed issue, whereas more recent studies show that the ethnic is ΣΙΡΙΝΟΝ (retrograde) for the town of Siris in the Pangeon region.
