Thessaly, Pharsalos AR Drachm. Late 5th C BC. Head of Athena right, wearing Attic helmet adorned with a figure of Skylla; signature MI-TI of the artist Telephantos and his pupil behind / Thessalian cavalryman wearing petasos, holding lagobolon overhead, on horseback right; Φ-A to left and right above; retrograde Σ-P to left and right below; horse branded with B on haunch and Φ on shoulder; MHT below; all within incuse square with rounded corners. Lavva 154 (V72/R90 same dies), BCD Thessaly II, 642 (same dies). 6.13g, 19mm, 9h.

Near Extremely Fine. Rare.

The signatures of Telephantos and his pupil are clearly exhibited on the obverse of this coin, unlike the example in the BCD Collection, making this a pleasing example from the same dies.
