Danubian limes. Cast lead mystic plaque. Dacia and Moesia, 3rd-4th century AD. Obv. Rectangular plaque. To upper corners, to left, bust of Mithra; to right, bust of Attis. Two rows of figures: in the upper row, Helen facing between the Dioscuri on horseback (the Danubian Horsemen), two star above them; to left and right, two standing figures; two prone figures below the horses. In the lower row, sacrificial scene; to left, tripod with three apples above, cock standing right and (sacrificial) instruments; in the centre, male figure standing right and holding whip; to right, amphora and shepherd hanging animals from tree to left above, star and crescent. Rev. Plain. PB. 83 x 75 mm. Very rare in this exceptional condition. Magnificent grey patina. Good EF.
