(x) Mary (1553-1554), Sovereign, 15.32g, 1553, m.m. pomegranate, maria d g ang fra z hib regina mdliii, queen enthroned holding orb and sceptre, portcullis at feet, rev. a dno factv est istv z est mira in ocvl nris, square-topped shield in centre of Tudor rose, within double tressure, double annulet stops, single annulet after nris (Schneider 704 same obverse die; N.1956; S.2488), very slightly creased, a small scratch to right of shield, otherwise a sharply struck coin with excellent portrait, and original bright underlying luster, almost extremely fine, rare.
