Baldwin January 2001Cissbury was an emergency mint established at the end of Ethelreds reign when southern England was attacked by Danish invaders. A total of 39 coins are thought to exist for the mint, all being of this type except for the unique quatrefoil of Cnut in the British Museum. A very rare mint as most coins are in museum collections.
