COINS, 錢幣, REST OF THE WORLD, 其他國家, Mombasa, British Protectorate: Cast Tin Coins (35), probably late 19th Century, duriba, Rev mombasa, raised rims on both sides, average 5.80g to 6.30g, 19mm (Valentine 83.2); Lamu, Cast Tin Coins (11), similar issue, duriba, Rev lamu, average 2.90g to 3.30g, 14mm (Valentine 83.3). Mostly with considerable corrosion as usual, poor to about very fine.
Previously thought to be rare or at least scarce, these intriguing coins, about which little is known, are usually in very poor condition. See Spink auction, 15 July 2004, lot 338.
