CHINA. Pattern Dollar, Year 12 (1923). Dragon & Peacock. NGC MS-63.
L&M-81; K-680; Y-336; WS-0114. Small characters. Pattern Dollar often referred to as the "Pu Yi Wedding Dollar" for its festive design. A breathtaking example with glossy nearly prooflike fields. Exquisitely rendered dragon scales and peacock plumage bears witness to the extraordinary strike the coin received when minted. The obverse is arguably full gem, with the few minor contact marks present confined to the central reverse fields. Blistering bright white surfaces without a trace of tone, but with a fully original look. A coin that is vastly superior to nearly all surviving specimens (what few there are) and easily a candidate for centerpiece status within the collection it eventually will enter. NGC MS-63.
Estimate: $14000.00- $18000.00
