CHINA. Dollar, ND (1923). PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder.
L&M-959; K-678; WS-0105. Population of one with four finer at PCGS. President Tsao Kun in military uniform. Struck during the relatively short presidency of Tsao Kun which began in October of 1923, the year this piece was struck. After Tsao Kun openly bribed National Assembly members with $5,000 in silver dollars to gain the presidency, the overt corruption resulted in rival factions turning against him, with Tsao Kun eventually being ousted in a coup led by General Feng Yuxiang in October of 1924. A phenomenally well preserved piece, with the military decorations on Tsao Kun's uniform nearly identifiable for order, and exquisite detail readily evident all through the portrait. The reverse is nearly as impressive, with the flags exhibiting every crease, fold and bend. Highly lustrous, generally free of marks, the quality seen here is seldom encountered outside of museum collections. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder.

Estimate: $6000.00- $8000.00
