L&M-856; K-unlisted; KM-unlisted; WS-unlisted; Wenchao-unlisted. EXCEPTIONALLY RARE, only a few examples known. Commemorating the Canton Martyrs. Unpublished in most major reference works, and missing from nearly all monumental collections. Nearly identical to the oft-seen Canton Martyrs type of the same year (L&M-851), with the notable exclusion of the denomination "10" from the Kuomintang sun design. A trio of faint scratches are present along the reverse on the sun's rays and fields between. Lovely steely grey toning with nice luster in the fields.
