CHINA. Fantasy Dollar, CD (1885). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
K-B13; Bruce-119; WS-1349-6. Emperor Kuang Hsu issue. Moderately toned. The obverse fields display significant evidence of the dies having been wire brushed prior to striking, producing fields that look lightly circulated at first inspection. With loupe in hand, the coin looks much more like an uncirculated example, with no wear evident on the portrait, especially the nose, and with the balance of the portrait remaining equally well preserved. Faint weakness is seen in a few of the reverse dragon scales which might just as easily be attributed to the strike. Conservatively graded, PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
