CHINA. Lu Yu Ting Silver Medal, Year 5 (1916). EXTREMELY FINE.
37 mm; 22.08 gms. L&M-947; cf.K-pl. 190; cf.WS-0119. Silver Lu Yu-ting in military uniform and cap three-quarters left, legend above all within patterned border; Reverse: Bird with wings spread perched atop rock and wreath, legend above all within floriated border. Suspended from ribbon with clasp. Sharp facial features and reverse devices. The ribbon appears to be original, lightly soiled but completely intact. Overall, shows some evidence of wear consistent with being worn as a medal. Includes contemporary black and white photograph of Lu Yu-ting. We offered a similar repaired example of this medal without ribbon that sold for $7,170 in last year's April Hong Kong Sale. The piece offered here is far superior. Dark toned, slightly bent. EXTREMELY FINE.
