KOREA. Gold Missionary Medallion, ND (ca. 1925). EXTREMELY FINE.
31.66 mm; 16.71 gms. An intriguing hand engraved gold medallion featuring an outline of the Korean peninsula (and Jeju Island) at center, with "Joseon" a Korean royal dynasty and the name for the country in the recent past. The inscriptions describe a missionary named Nam Hing-I, and "Rest in peace in his country _ _". The reverse is blank with the exception of two vertical linear inscriptions stating the year of 1925 and a location (Byeog Dong) and church. An enigmatic medallion certainly worthy of further research. The attached hanger is slightly bent, with a loop attached. EXTREMELY FINE.
Estimate: $800.00- $1200.00
